What is Apologetics?

The  Catholic Encyclopedia of 1913  begins the topic of  Apologetics  by stating that it is "a theological science which has for its purpose the explanation and defense of the Christian religion." Although it comes from the same Latin root, the word "apologetics" does not mean that I go around apologizing for being Catholic. In fact, I am very proud to be a member of the only Church that can claim Christ as its founder.

I pray that I can be used by God to help others understand the Church and what She  really  teaches. Whether you are a non-Catholic; a former Catholic; a Catholic who thinks you can choose only those parts of the Faith that fit your lifestyle; someone who thinks you're Catholic because you attend Mass on Christmas and Easter and always consider one day to use those envelopes you get in the mail; someone interested in Catholicism; or someone who'd like to ask a few questions - !

Some of the apologetics areas I have studied include:

The Bible (it's origin and compilation)
Early Church Fathers
Jehovah's Witnesses
Fundamentalist Christian misconceptions about the Catholic Church
Human Sexuality and what the Church says about it
